Rules to attack/invade
How strange it might sound, there are additional rules before a faction is allowed top reform an attack. Besides the needed reasons (propaganda and paint your opponent/target; to sell your actions to your citizens in your homeland) you need to preform paperwork.
Paperwork:
Paperwork is important in order to execute an attack:
- How many troops are involved?
- Where do you gather your forces?
- How will you approach your enemy?
- What kind of routes are the forces taking?
- What are the objectives?
Do you bring more special/heavier equipment in order for nuclear attacks, heavy Carpet Bombing or likewise? (This is to prevent ‘magic’ attacks)
General Powers (GP)
After a short discussion, General Powers like how they are in game, are not available. You have to work strike forces within the Paperwork. Magic attacks, even the famous GP’s are not allowed/possible. Discussion about this is possible; majority is needed to change this back.
Forces
You have to gather your forces. Obviously they have to be called from a spot, where your forces currently are, which you want to use for your battle. They have to transport to the desired location, from where you wish to attack.
Transport calculation time: SEE THIS POST/need to be worked out
Call for the attack (IMPORTANT)
After discussion whether or not to reveal all forces from each faction to another, the next solution is chosen. The 2 main arguments are:
A) Every decent military organization has ‘eyes in the sky’; AKA a decent knowledge of other countries forces
B) Faction players desire some mystery about their forces.
To prevent mystery mass invasions, like every country will figure out one way or another that somebody is gathering massive amounts of infantry and military hardware, you have to share this information. In other words, revealing the troop gathering, without purposes.
So instead of a full public shared military board, we will choose this instead. So the majority of a faction will remain unknown, the mystery.
- You have to inform your opposing faction, 3 weeks before the attack!
- You will do this by using a News Broadcast, on that faction which you want to attack.
Use a creative but clearly News Broadcast about the country in particular, who is worry by the gathering forces. Be clear, that it's a real deal (Perhaps highlight this with an OOC footnote!)
This opens windows, in order for the defender to call some forces. But he still has no idea where you might strike exactly. Neither does the attacker know a thing about the defender.
Both factions could try to spy on each other, by using the Espionage-thread. Strategy could be changed, discovered, altered and/or the knowledge about it, could be in some factions advantage, either offence or defence.
The attacker, or the faction who would go to attack could call off the attack. It could be a bluff, or some power play to ‘work on the nerves of your neighbours’
So you need to inform 3 weeks before the attack. If preparations will take for example, 10 weeks, due massive troop movements/transport, you have the opportunity to launch the News Broadcast in week 7. However, with a successful counter espionage attempt, the full knowledge of the ‘paperworks and preparations’ could come in hands of the other factions.
Attacks purely focussed by Navy, or rapid Air Strikes (stand alone airstrikes) will not fall under this rule. There will be a seperate thread how we will preform them properly.
